Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning: What’s the Difference?

“Do I need a deep clean or a regular clean?” is the question we’re asked most. Here’s the honest breakdown.

What a regular clean covers

Maintenance of visible surfaces: dusting, vacuuming and mopping, kitchen benches and stovetop wipe-down, bathroom sanitising, bins, and general tidying. It keeps a home healthy and presentable, and works best on a weekly or fortnightly schedule. Think of it as brushing your teeth.

What a deep clean adds

Everything the regular clean can’t reach: inside the oven and rangehood, inside cupboards, skirting boards and door frames, window tracks and sills, grout scrubbing, shower screen descaling, under and behind furniture, light fittings, and wall spot-cleaning. It’s the dental check-up — thorough, occasional, and it resets the baseline.

Which do you need?

Start with a deep clean if: it’s been more than 3 months since a thorough clean, you’re moving in or out, allergies are flaring, or you’re about to start a regular service (a deep clean first makes every regular visit more effective).

A regular clean is enough if: the home was deep-cleaned recently and you’re maintaining it.

The combination that works

Most of our long-term clients run fortnightly regular cleans with a seasonal deep clean every three months. The house never slides, and the deep cleans stay quick — which keeps them affordable.
